In July 2019, Jiuzhou Yunjian (Beijing) Space Technology Co., Ltd. completed multiple deep variable thrust hot test runs of the self-developed "Lingyun" 10-ton variable thrust liquid oxygen methane engine, and all the tests were successful.
A technical prerequisite for liquid rockets to be widely used in the commercial aerospace market is that liquid rockets can be recovered and reused. Through recovery and reuse, the cost of a single launch can be significantly reduced and commercial applications can be realized. The technical basis for the recovery and reuse of liquid rockets comes from the three key technologies of engine reusability, multiple starts, and deep variable thrust.
As the first domestic liquid oxygen methane engine that truly realizes reusability, multiple starts, and deep variable thrust capabilities, the "Lingyun" engine provides low-cost, rapid use and maintenance of the engine during the development process, multiple starting capabilities, and large-scale changes. A series of bold and difficult explorations and attempts have been made in thrust adjustment technology, control technology, and key assembly adaptability technology. The complete success of this round of hot testing indicates that the Kyushu Yunjian "Lingyun" engine has achieved a pumping type in China. Several effective breakthroughs in cryogenic liquid rocket engine bottleneck technology:
(1) To fill the gap in the deep thrust adjustment technology of domestic pumped liquid rocket engines, the minimum throttling condition reaches 20%, which fully meets the rocket's variable thrust demand during recovery, and the throttling capability reaches the international leading level;
(2) For the first time in China, the main and auxiliary dual-circuit torque-type electric ignition start has been realized, completely getting rid of the traditional gunpowder start method, greatly increasing the number of engine starts, meeting the need for multiple starts during rocket recovery, and realizing the engine The whole machine has no pyrotechnics, which also improves the convenience of engine storage and transportation;
(3) For the first time in China, it has made breakthroughs in and mastered the use and maintenance technology of liquid rocket engine all-nitrogen. Compared with the traditional low-temperature rocket engine, the use and maintenance of helium is used, which greatly reduces the maintenance cost of the engine;

In addition, this round of testing has also completed the adaptability assessment of the combustion device and the coaxial turbopump under high variable ratio conditions, and completed the robustness test of the engine's low box pressure to start the turbopump in the entire cavitation state. .
During this round of testing, the engine parameters are consistent with the preset values. The reliability of the ignition system has been verified by many tests. The speed, head and efficiency of the turbo pump are highly consistent with the design expectations. The pressure in the thrust chamber is stable, and it burns under ultra-low working conditions. The stability is high, the thrust regulating valve and regulating system work normally under the engine vibration environment, the thrust regulation is accurate, and the response characteristics meet the design requirements. Aiming at the failure mode of insufficient tank pressure that may occur during the rocket recovery process, the engine conducts a robustness assessment test for starting under ultra-low tank pressure. The turbo pump can still work normally even when the inlet pressure is very low. Various performance parameters such as, thrust, etc. are also relatively stable.
The "Lingyun" engine can be reused, started multiple times, and the deep variable thrust technology is fully verified. It will be directly converted to the high-thrust "Longyun" engine without additional work, realizing the recyclable liquid oxygen methane engine product of Kyushu Yunjian Commercial Aerospace The type spectrum is for rocket customers to choose.
