Information

On July 12, 2018, the torch electric ignition system independently developed by Kyushu Yunjian successfully completed dozens of ignition tests.

The torch electric ignition system provides a spark for the start of the liquid rocket engine, which is composed of an ignition cylinder, an exciter, a spark plug, an ignition chamber, and an ignition valve. The traditional gunpowder ignition method generally can only achieve 1-2 engine starts. In contrast, the torch electric ignition method has the technical advantage of adapting to multiple engine starts (usually up to dozens of times). It is the development of a reusable launch vehicle. One of the key technologies that must be mastered represents the technological development trend in the field of rocket engine ignition, such as the European new-generation carrier rocket Arian 6 VINCI engine, the "Raptor" liquid oxygen methane engine being developed by the well-known commercial aerospace company SpaceX, and Blue Origin's All BE-4 liquid oxygen methane engines use a flare-type electric ignition system.
Through this round of testing, the ignition characteristics of the torch-type electric ignition system under different mixing ratios were mastered, the working sequence and working reliability of the ignition system were assessed, and the stable working boundary of the ignition system was found out. The successful test of this self-developed torch electric ignition system shows that Kyushu Yunjian has mastered the advanced ignition technology of liquid rocket engines, which is of great significance to the realization of multiple ignitions of the engine, and lays a solid foundation for the development of repeated use of launch vehicles The basics!
This torch-type electric ignition system will participate in the subsequent joint test run of the auxiliary system of the 10-ton engine and the joint test run of the full-scale thrust chamber to further verify the compatibility of the ignition system and the main and auxiliary systems of the engine.
