The China Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology Industry has announced the results of the "Second 2019-2020 China Association for the Promotion of Science and Technology Industry Science and Technology Awards," recognizing outstanding organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to scientific innovation and the promotion of science and technology industrialization. Zhou Wei, Head of R&D at Jiuzhou Yunjian (Beijing) Space Technology Co., Ltd., was awarded the Individual Contribution Award. Most notably, the company successfully developed China's first 10-ton liquid oxygen-methane rocket engine capable of multiple starts, deep thrust modulation, and supporting rocket recovery and reuse. Since its establishment in 2017, the R&D department of Kyushu Yunjian, led by Zhou Wei, has successfully developed China's first 10-ton liquid oxygen-methane rocket engine capable of multiple ignitions, featuring deep thrust-vector control and supporting rocket recovery and reuse. This engine has already passed thermal testing assessments. Additionally, under his leadership, the team completed the development of a 65-ton high-thrust liquid oxygen-methane rocket engine with a thrust modulation range spanning from 30% to 110%, achieving overall performance metrics that align with internationally advanced standards.
This award not only recognizes Zhou Wei as an individual but also affirms the significant achievements and contributions of Jiuzhou Yunjian.
