This test marks the first domestic instance of re-igniting a sea-state recovery engine, demonstrating the Longyun engine’s adaptability to offshore splashdown and laying an important foundation for exploring new pathways in rocket recovery and reuse technology.
Recently, the LY70005 sea-splash recovery engine—developed by Jiuzhou Yunjian and paired with the Yuanxingzhe No. 1 verification rocket from Jianyuan Technology—along with its servo mechanisms and electrical equipment, successfully completed four joint swing thermal tests involving the engine and control system. The tests were a complete success!
This test marks the first domestic verification of sea-state recovery engine re-ignition, demonstrating the Longyun engine’s adaptability to offshore splashdown. The following lessons were learned:
- The engine’s seawater splash resistance design has passed the test evaluation.
- After the engine was splashed into the sea, the entire post-processing procedure underwent thermal testing.

Through this experiment, we have accumulated comprehensive experience in the entire process of recovering and reusing Longyun engines at sea, laying an important foundation for exploring new pathways in rocket recovery and reuse technology.
