Recently, the vacuum version of the Lingyun liquid oxygen-methane engine developed by Jiuzhou Yunjian successfully completed its reliability thermal test evaluation.
Recently, the vacuum version of Kyushu Cloud Arrow's Lingyun liquid oxygen-methane engine successfully completed its reliability thermal test evaluation. To date, three units of the Lingyun engine have collectively accumulated 8,000 seconds of thermal testing, with a single engine achieving a maximum cumulative thermal test duration of up to 5,000 seconds and undergoing up to 30 individual start-up cycles. These results fully demonstrate and validate the exceptional reliability of the Lingyun engine products.
This year, the Lingyun engine, designed for accompanying flight missions, has been delivered to customers and successfully completed ground testing and evaluation. Currently, small-batch deliveries of the engines are underway, with assembly and testing activities progressing steadily.
As of now, the Lingyun engine has undergone a series of rigorous tests, including: more than ten deep thrust-vectoring hot-fire tests, three integrated start-and-thrust-vectoring hot-fire tests, ±8° bidirectional swing hot-fire tests, dual subcooled propellant tests, continuous long-duration hot-fire tests without shutdown, and multi-cycle operational assessments replicating flight mission profiles.
Following the above-mentioned hot test evaluations, Lingyun Engine has demonstrated increasingly mature technology and product capabilities, with its engineering application potential gradually being realized. This has attracted the attention of multiple rocket customers.
Test Run Footage of Lingyun Engine Vacuum Version
The Lingyun Engine Vacuum Version is developed based on the Lingyun Engine by increasing the nozzle area ratio. The entire engine assembly has undergone thorough reliability verification. Currently, the V1 version has demonstrated a measured vacuum thrust of 12.5 tons with a specific impulse of 341 seconds. Additionally, depending on customer requirements, the engine's area ratio can be further optimized to enhance its vacuum-specific impulse performance.
The Lingyun engine vacuum version (LY-10V), powered by liquid oxygen-methane propellant, boasts remarkable features such as low cost, high performance, and exceptional reliability, making it the optimal choice for main propulsion systems in rocket upper stages.
